Finally a snow day

I checked out the smaller of the two cameras that we own and to my surprise, I found these photos from last year's winter.  It made me happy to see all the snow in these photos, I miss getting extremely dressed up and going out for a walk in the deep snow.  I could only ponder about the day when we would have a snow day. So, in memory of last year I wanted to still post these.  As you can see we are hard at work clipping the hooves of our does.  The front hooves seem to get longer quicker compared to the back hooves.  Asa and Che Che also seem to have a very thick winter coat, something that they lack this winter.  Perhaps because we have had a mild winter so far in terms of snow.  It will remain a mystery...

Fugeesita on the other hand, seems to lack a winter coat overall, so what did we do?  We got a her a pretty expensive soft flannel jacket.  She runs under the table every time we want to put that coat on her.  But, once it is on, it stays on and she looks adorable. This year we also have Fugee wear a bell.  It is so that we can hear where she is in the yard. I remember going snowshoeing last year with her. She is so smart. Instead of plowing through the snow on her own next to us, she would instead stay behind one of us and jump from hole to hole that we left by our snowshoes. Therefore, decreasing the amount of work she had to do to keep up. She was prancing like a deer.  No doubt, these are precious moments.

One last memory, is that of two wild turkeys that used to visit our bird feeders every two days or so.  We don't know how, but Fugee could sense them nearby before we could even see them in the distance. Fugee would start barking and scaring them away.  Nevertheless, the turkeys knew where to find food and came regularly. This year, we have not seen birds coming to our feeders. Not even Chickadees or Nuthatches. Maybe with the new snow, we might have some visitors. On the other hand, we have a healthy, thriving commune of squirrels and mice that love our home. They keep us awake and banging on the ceiling and walls at early times in the morning.  Thinking about a great way to start up the day!
